It’s all change with our team at Harrogate. After moving office from Victoria Avenue earlier this year, we are now settled into our new room at Community House in Harrogate. The boxes are unpacked and we have been delighted to welcome back some of our volunteers and a brand new member of our team!
Over the summer our part time fundraiser, Jeri Smith-Cronin moved to a new job in Belgium. We would like to thank Jeri for his help and support over the past two years, and for the impact that he has made at Open Arms both in the UK and Malawi. Last month we were pleased to welcome Gayle Dowling to the team!
Gayle said “I am so excited to be joining the wonderful team at Open Arms Malawi! Before taking some time out to care for my two young children, I spent over six years working for Tearfund.
My grandparents, parents and I were all born in Southern Africa, so it was a huge privilege to spend the majority of my time at Tearfund supporting their teams in several East and Southern African countries (Malawi included) - a region very dear to my heart.
In particular, I was responsible for facilitating and improving the flow of project information between staff and partners in-country and key investors. In doing so, I learnt so much more about the complex challenges Africa faces, whilst also witnessing first hand the incredible impact development initiatives can make. Because of this, I am passionate about maximising funding opportunities for vital work in the developing world, whilst also improving donor experience through the sharing of high quality, honest communications.
Open Arms Infant Homes work tirelessly to give so many babies life and hope for the future and I feel honoured to be able to support such amazing work in this special part of the world once again.”
We're delighted that Gayle has joined the team, she has made a fantastic start already and is getting in touch with supporters to introduce herself and share stories of Open Arms Malawi.
