Whatever you can do, we’d love to work with you

You can introduce Open Arms to your community, and as part of a group it’s easy to do those small things that add up to give children in Malawi the support they need. We'd love to hear how you are inspired to get involved.

We can work with clubs, associations and organisations of all sizes. Groups might host a coffee morning once a year, or invite us to give a talk on how their donation has helped. Some of the communities who support us are churches, Inner Wheel Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Scouts and ladies groups.

A community fundraising event is a great way of getting people together to really make a difference to some of the most vulnerable children in Malawi. With so many fun ways to raise support, we can help you find one that works well for your group.

Whether it be with a group of family and friends or an association that you are part of we would love to hear from you.

Why should your club or association support Open Arms Malawi?

In Malawi, one child in nine is orphaned. Grandmothers and aunties who step forward to look after children in this circumstance and incredibly selfless, though as many of them earn less than £1 a day they need our help so children can survive and thrive.

We can help coordinate and advise you on events and will provide you with information and stories that will demonstrate the impact that you are making.

For grant-making organisations we can work with you to identify a project you would like to support, write a proposal, and report on progress.

Given enough notice we are always happy to come and talk to your group too!

Here are some groups who have helped

  • Inner Wheel Club of Alderley Edge invited us to give a talk over dinner and sponsored twins in Malawi for two years
  • St Joseph’s Ladies’ Guild saved their 5p pieces to raise £222 last year
  • Holy Trinity Church have an annual coffee morning for Open Arms Malawi
  • Ian Temple has a wealth of fundraising experience and has taken part in over 200 coffee mornings and events at his local church. You can read his top tips for inspiration.
Coffee Morning Hosts
'Open Arms meets a clear need in one of the poorest countries on earth and I like the people I have met who are working and volunteering for the charity.’
And the best part about fundraising? ‘Actually doing it! The interaction with friends and people who come to events such as coffee mornings to support those less fortunate than themselves.’ – Ian Temple
