How does sponsorship help?

One of the biggest issues families are facing in Malawi is securing enough to eat. Most of the population, especially those in rural areas, rely on small-scale farming to survive, but the changing and unpredictable climate is causing more and more harvests to fail - leaving many to go months without food.

By sponsoring a farming family, you will help to equip and empower them with the knowledge, skills and resources to grow healthy crops year after year that will end hunger, improve nutrition, generate a sustainable income and lift them out of extreme poverty in just 3 years.  

What does it cost and where does the money go?

It costs £1,200 a year (£100 per month) for 3 years to support a family through an expertly designed agricultural programme that will see them triple their average yields and diversify their crops. 

Your donations will cover the full costs of farming supplies (seeds and fertilisers), training and support, which will result in; 

What can I expect in return?

We will send you detailed updates at least twice a year (including photos and videos where possible), so you can follow the family's progress and see the full impact of your wonderful support.

You will also have a direct contact at Open Arms in the UK should you have any queries, and the opportunity to visit the team in Malawi to see their work in action.

Most importantly, you will become part of a very special community that is enabling lasting change in Malawi and helping vulnerable families achieve a brighter, independent future!
